The 800 f11 came in handy for this Mississippi Kite on a snag atop a well established tree (i.e., it was way, way up there).

Great capture!

Had an amazing time visiting Skomer island in Wales (UK) to see the puffins. Took loads of photos so be prepared to see a few more. Not sure I nailed any in flight photos - they move very fast and my bird in flight experience is virtually non existent. It was fun trying though. The only thing I regret is leaving my ISO quite high the whole time for flight photos when I didn't need to be so high for still images.

Thank you Finola. I am pleased with what I have had a chance to look at so far but still have 2 memory cards to download to my PC so hopefully find a few gems in there :)

p.s Where in Ireland do you live? I was born in Northern Ireland but live in Devon in England now. I will hopefully be getting over to Connemara in Ireland this summer if Covid permits me to.

I love that anticipation as you upload images, hoping for that special image.
I’m from Cork :) Connemara is one of my favourite places, just love those stone walls and gorgeous beaches. I hope you get to visit.

Oh yes indeed as I took so many photos I haven't even reviewed them on the back of the camera yet:)

Cork is a lovely part of Ireland too - my mum's favourite destination in Ireland.

Looks like you ended up having a good time on Skomer island. I particularly like the the first one with all the eels in its beak. Now that you've been once, you'll want to go again. I've found the R6 great at handling high ISO so better to have that than blury images. Really nice images, well done.

Oh yes I had a fantastic time! I will definitely go back again next year if I can secure tickets. Thank you for the kind words on my photos. I still have not had a chance to go through all my photos yet but I am happy with the ones I have plucked out already. The R6 is really good at handling noise and then add in Topaz Noise AI and you are in an even better position.
