Congrats Peano! That was very nicely done, however long ago. Snow version good too.

Thanks. I didn't mean to be competing for the win, because I'm not a photographer and don't have much to offer. But I went back in my archive, such as it is, and picked a few on the chance that one might spark someone's imagination.

Boilerplate:

Rules are simple:

Download the image file from the current week

Contestants will have 7 days to edit the image and post their edited version to the thread (1 entry per week)

The owner of the original image will choose a winner

The winner will copy & paste this post and include a new downloadable image link

The new image must be unedited / SOOC (straight our of camera), full-resolution, and in a RAW format, ie. CR2, DNG, TIF, etc
(Dropbox works well for uploading and linking these large files)

The purpose of this game is to be creative and learn new editing techniques. You must give some insight into exactly how you went about editing the image. For example, increased shadows sliders, reduced highlights, local sharpening, white balance adjustment, specific filters used, tone curve adjustments, etc. Comments and/or questions regarding the edits are encouraged.

I wanted to experiment with bringing out the rolling contour of the field, mainly by brightening the brow of the hill in the middle and darkening a bit behind it. Other than that, just tried to brighten and pretty things up -- new sky/clouds, removed electric poles, truck and people.

Just a bit of 2243 to see what I could get. Aurora HDR to bring out details in the dark areas, crop and straighten and a few other adjustments; Topaz Sharpen; some final adjustments to colour, details in Luminar 4

Crop bottom, then selective brightening and darkening here and there.

And the winner is . . .

whiteflyer, for the sheer ingenuity of relocating the U.S. Supreme Court in a Virginia hay field and posting a guard cat out front. Well done!

WOW, thanks Peano for the win.

Due to living in the UK Covid hot spot of Bolton (well very near) I've been out with the camera very little in the last 18 months, so I just dragged an old shot from my archive.
This is Glienicke Bridge in Potsdam Germany otherwise know as The Bridge of Spies, where east and west did prisoner exchanges in the cold war.

This is not in the competition. Just playing.

I used the usual filter suspects to darken/lighten and add/change colors: hue/sat adjustment layers, photo filters, gradients, plus a fill layer and cloud brushes for the sky.
