For me it's the 70-200 mkii with the mkiii 1.4 extender, 90% of my trackside / motor racing shooting is with this combo

Couple interesting machines there.
The tyre pattern in lower one is rather unique. Custom made?

Love the blokes outfit too.

Just curious what other !DXII users think. I want to supplement my Tamron 150-600 G2 next migration season ( autumn) with a telephoto prime. I will have roughly $7K available. Originally I was thinking of the Sigma 500 f/4, but now I'm intrigued by the idea of a Canon 300 2.8 II with a 2x teleconverter. Any thoughts?

I use the Canon 300 2.8 II with 2X teleconverter a lot. Both owl pics directly above your post are with that combo. Seems fine to me. The 300mm lens is my favourite of the lenses I own.

Your photos are strong arguments in favor of the 300

I love my 1Dx2. Its the best camera I have used. I am scaling back and getting ready for complete retirement in next couple of years. I got this camera at release and it has a shutter count at about 160K. It works for anything I can put in front of it so Im not in any rush to get a mirrorless body. These were from a wedding last week. Love this camera

If I am being honest- I dont see the advantage to a mirrorless camera. Eye focus maybe?? But as you can see I have zero issues hitting the face and its been this way since 2007. I just dont see the mirrorless advantage especially at the price points. I will go mirrorless when I dont have any other choice

That's Corky Coker - the owner of Coker Tire Company in Chattanooga. He makes a bunch of different tires for old cars including the ones that say NON-SKID in the tread pattern

Thanks for reply.
That's quite a collection of tyres and the prices are way up there on the oldies.
Good reading.

These two are beautiful also. Certainly a place to spend (much) time at

Just looked at the Coker museum. Oh dear! What a wonderful place to browse.
