It's interesting to discover in mixed (ambient + flash) light photos that the shortness of the flash duration
which allowed to freeze perfectly the short feathers was insufficient to produce the same effect on the longer feathers
- because the wind did agitate them differently.

NB : The catchlight (= reflection in the eye) does confirm the use of a distant flash.
More precisely, the white square form in the owl's right eye

Agreed.
Looks somehow like a cross of a bear and a domestic dog,
with some other undefined appearance.

I call it a great shot from a person from 'The Wolverine State',
even though we don't seem to have them anymore.
