I definitely wouldn't have walked that, that sand was deep! I just pulled over, and hopped out when I spotted this vantage point.

I wasn't aware that the public was able to drive out to the lighthouse on that park service "road."

You can drive down to the lighthouse, if you have a four-wheel drive.

Here is a snippet from their website

"""

Public Tours of Race Point Lighthouse

The Race Point Lighthouse opens for touring on the first and third Saturdays from June until October. You can get to the lighthouse by walking or your own four-wheel drive vehicle with the proper permit; we do not provide public transportation for the tower tours. The lighthouse will be open from 10:00am to 2:00pm. Donations to climb ($5 per person suggested donation) are deeply appreciated and directly benefit Race Point. Stop by on your way to Hatches Harbor!

That counts my Prius out right there. So for me that means walking or hoverboard. Thanks for the info.

One of these days I'll do it. I don't think I'll have a problem walking to the lighthouse. Its the walking back that'll kill me :-)

If anyone ever wants a ride out let me know, I'll take any excuse for some time off work!

Your exif shows shot at 400mm, was there an extender here too, or just 400mm? Killer shot!

Just the 400 lens, no extenders. The photo is cropped. Thank you!
