Very nice work! steveb108 wrote in post #19252276 ![]() Crows are aggressive and smart. Their agility in the air and use of mobbing trouble many raptors. Not so much with Mississippi Kites, it would seem. This adult took on 3 crows that came too close to the occupied nest. It ran them in circles, then led them well away from the nest in a great example of a diversionary display. Nice two bird series, Steve! I'm always amazed at how smart crows are. I've watched a number of times how a crow will pick up a walnut from a nearby orchard, drop it in the street, and wait for a vehicle to come along and smash it. The crow then returns and is able to eat the pieces (nut parts). Winston Churchill once said, "if people were birds, few would be crows." Very much appreciated, Mike! Thank you, and thank you for schooling me again. I love that quote about crows!
