I was at the Seagrave Observatory yesterday cutting the lawn (the joy of being a Trustee) and after I decided to set up my LS50 which I use for visual, you can do imaging with it but it is not that easy as you have to adapt it to a camera.
There was a nice prom so I threw on a ASI120mm-s and grabbed a quick shot

It's been raining nasty in Florida for weeks. Last time I even saw the sky was 6/11. "Sunny Florida!" my butt. Here's what I've been seeing every day for 16 straight days in Florida:

Anyhow, up till today. Even today was cloudy and raining. But at 4pm this evening, the sky cleared up other than some good cumulus clouds and had good transparency so I ran outside to see what I could and expected to get rained on, but the weather held up. Lucky imaging prevails, seeing was ok despite the time and was able to get some sub-arc-second moments for some high res imaging in CaK & Continuum. It's still sunny out at 8pm now, long summer days. But I know more storms are coming, this is just the beginning. AR2835 is a fantastic AR with two big spots, both with penumbra and light bridges. It's not flaring at all, low activity, because the poles are separated very well and so very little re-connection of the polarity is occurring (resulting in flares). Lots of great surface activity in the chromosphere going on.

Today was an all-refractor day for filtering.

120mm F8.3 refractor (masked to 100mm F10)
150mm F8 refractor (used at full 150mm but also 120mm F10 with mask)
CaK, HA & Baader Solar Wedge for WL

Jeff,

Has anyone told you that you have a very large hole in your umbrella? That will allow a LOT of rain to get thru and get your telescope very wet!!

I thought I should let you know!! <grin>

first two days in a week with no clouds but yesterday I had to cut the lawn down in Rhode Island at the observatory in the 94 degree heat and then the radiator on my Jeep let go, great day, and now today it is clear again, 94 again BUT I have to attend the funeral for my wife's brother, she won't let me skip it!

At least no interesting surface features and the prom while nice isn't something I haven't gotten before....

Have to keep the peace

A shame!

Same here, Storm Elsa on top of our already wet nasty summer here in Florida so far has been fruitless. It seems to be 2~3 weeks at a time that I see the sky at all right now. "Sunny" Florida.
