From what I've read, it was built in 1898. So it is now 121 years old. It is not on rocks, but the cylinder is dredged into the mud about 5 feet and filled with stone and concrete. It has not been lit for several years. I thought it was sold several years ago and was going to be renovated and rented to overnight guests. Nothing has been done since.

I was looking at the stones on the approach and wondered if the top course was fossil wood? Just the way it looks?

don't get too excited Charles, but thanks for the acknowledgment.
Those chunks of rock look very reminiscent to some large pieces of fossil trees I've seen. Might be wrong though.
Live long and observe a lot, makes one - best not go down that track :-P:rolleyes:
