Wonderful captures with these two shots, Paul! I can see why that bigger fish was a real challenge for junior.

Pippan...this is truly a very nice shot! I really like this one.

Mark...from the looks of this photo, the 600mm lens with the 1.4Xiii rreally likes you. Excellent shot. It's definitely too much of a beast for this old man.

Super close-up of the drake wood duck, fotoi! It certainly is lifelike looking.

Masterful capture of this Platalea regia, Pippan!

Both of these captures are wonderful, Steve! You really did terrific work here!

Striking shot, Scott! You really did a beautiful job here.

Just returned from a trip to northern Wisconsin, where we stayed at a lake house. I was expecting a ton of bird activity, but was surprised by how few species there were around the water. Ton of American Redstarts though, which I was able to easily photograph to my hearts content from the lake house patio:

The star attraction for me was the mating pair of Loons, as I've never had a chance to photograph them, but also their call at night across the silent lake was a thing of beauty. We had a couple of boats, and so I was able to get down on my belly for this shot:

"Mom, I want my Maypo!" This fledgling Barred Owl spent a long time alternating between begging calls and scanning the trees above it for an adult with something to eat.

Matt...your redstart shot is a thing of beauty! This is some wonderful photography! Sharpness, lighting, background, color, composition, and anything else I forgot to mention are all spot on.
The close-up of the loon is stunning! The tiniest of water droplets are sharp as can be. Great job.

Thanks Mike. I'm thinking it's too much for me too but on a tripod with the gimbal head it is fantastic! I just need to employ someone to carry it around for me! :p

Thanks so much for your kind words LD.

Still waiting for the wisdom they promised would be worth getting old for.
