Thanks All. Fingers crossed later in the season the MW can be caught going almost vertical above the stones..... We've not had a clear night since I took these though!

They are little trees/bushes Rob. Just over the brow of the hill the Stones are on is the main A303 trunk road & it goes uphill out of shot left side. Anything travelling west (left to right) can light the scene with their headlights especially some of the articulated lorries with hundreds of lights on the front!!

Yeah I keep forgetting how close they are to the A303, framing it more to the left would likely bring all the light pollution from the motorway into the frame.

Yes. August will also put the MW more SSW too away from the light pollution of Salisbury.

Light pollution always seems to be a challenge. My first attempt at a Milky Way image shot from the coastal mountains above Lake Sonoma. The light pollution is from Santa Rosa to the SE. I may try going out to the coast and a little further north tonight and see if I can do better.

QUOTED IMAGE

Really like that. Nice foreground outline too. I don't mind a little band of light pollution colour, sometimes the orange glow is nice if it isn't overpowering. It can make blending images easier also!

I'm going to try overexposing my sky images next time and then pull them back in PP. I usually expose them 'correctly' as best I can in the field.

Thanks, Lee. I took that image with the A7Riv and the 14GM. I found achieving accurate focus very challenging and I suspect the 60 megapixel A7Riv is not the best body for astro images.

Do you have any tips on getting the focus correct?

I just tend to pick a pretty bright star, magnify in & manual focus the best I can. I will say though, MF with the 20G & especially the 35GM is much more difficult than with the old Samyang or the Voigtlanders!!

Hello all. I recently updated my site to include a new section called Collections. This is where I have grouped some of my favorite images into collections such as waterfalls, small scenes, trees, etc. Thanks for taking a look. I'm considering adding an intro. I've also named each of my images in the Collections which actually took a lot longer than expected.

Anyone interested in LNIB 35GM? Putting mine up for sale on FM soon but figured I'd see if anyone were interested here first.

What price range you thinking...

Can someone tell me about Sony repair service? I have briefly looked into it and it appears it goes to a camera shop that is expensive to even have them look at it. I am insured but I still get heartburn from what I've seen. Any insight would be great.

A nice view from Lookout Mountain near Denver. It's a popular place for cyclists as they test their endurance riding up the long windy road to the top. I was able to capture two cyclists on this curvy section with the front range in the distance.
