Not what you'd normally expect a church to look like, but I'm sure the believers will say god doesn't mind where you worship.

It is supposed to be the resting place of the heart of Simon de Montford, the army boss of the Albigensian Crusade against the Cathars in the early 1200s. The catholic church didn't like the Cathars, big time!

My ambition for a good while is to grow old disgracefully. So far my wife tells me that I am doing really well!

Did you get to hear the organ being played?

Yes TC, several times and it is a beauty. One of the windows in there depicts the Tree of Life and it is beautiful.

Sorry, but it was a difficult one to get right?

Eglise St Vincent, Bastide St Louis as seen from La Cité, Carcassonne. The tower is 52 metres high and the highest point is St Louis. lovely view from there.

This is the main organ and there is also a smaller one behind the alta about 100' or so at the other end of the church. Through the summer festival they have concerts in the church and it is a wonderful sound!

Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it.
Looking up at the window, I can understand that it was hard to get a "good" photo of it.

We certainly did.

We were members of the village 3rd Age Club and with them we had a 'show' of the St Vincent organ with the organist giving us a rendition afterwards. It has been restored and not an electrical restor, but a mechanical job just as it was first built.

I recorded that rendition. I will see if I can find it again -?

Silverton was a major mining town in Western NSW, what is left (not much) now focuses on tourism.

That's antiquity stuff Ray. Amazing.
That must have been wild weather in 1287.
Many many lives lost yet alone property and realigned topography,
And we reel in the wake of all the devastating stuff now.

The mind boggles at the history that is tied up.
Very interesting reading and photos thanks Ray

On a side note. We had Border Leicester Romney Marsh Cross sheep.
Expect that's same Romney Marsh mentioned here

Thanks Richard. I last visited this one when it was undergoing a massive refurb. I didn’t manage to get interior shots, but oh well, god didn’t wanna let his humble servant in. :-(
