well finally starting to get some of my work printed ...... got a photo done at 600 wide x 1100 long 16:9 format printed ...... and framed. Frame is over $600 print $100 but will swap photos out. Will get a pano done soon to see how it looks and work out a ratio.

Will post photo once on a wall :)

In other news ... start job soon laying data cable at the local prison ...... and gave up smoking after 39 years vaping now. How does this relate to photography you ask, well also looking at upgrading from canon
to .........??? (insert guess here)

Te Awamutu is a different place photography wise in the landscape so finding spots.

You need to study your history. HDR is only one step along from one shot, one shot over in film, unsharp mask was invented in the darkroom, coloured washes invented in the dark room, etc and so on.

Camera clubs are generally like car clubs, the one with the V8 wins. The rest hardly count.

Photography clubs are some what better, but you always have the great "I am" who believes they are the only true photographer of the bunch.

By your current theory then, as soon as you start screwing on lenses and filters (which was also done in film, particularly black and white) You are no longer taking what you call "a photograph" but an artist's self indulgent adjustment of what the camera is looking at, and now we have the digital dark room where we can adjust it even more. I do remember you yourself a while back playing with LUTs, and other manipulations, one guy was even selling software so you could recreate his skies and lights etc.

At one club I was visiting I was told digital was not real photography. I have also been told that fully auto point and shoots do not take photographs. Oh yeah, there is always, "Gee, you must have a nice camera" by someone looking at your pictures. I will leave you on that note.

Chris I will say this ....there is a difference between in camera (filters) and in software (HDR, sky replacement).

I did cause a stir at the club meeting because I asked if the over all winning photo was a capture or a composite ........ composite is not a single frame capture it is 2 or more captures edited into 1 graphic image.

went for drive to Marokopa Falls, however when I got there rain had set in.

Got lost on the way home and ended up in Marokopa .....I thought Port Waikato was a small sea side town ..... will go back on a finer day.
While the viewing platform has a great view its prone to spray from the left, walk down is not for the faint of heart due to it been clay, no cell coverage so a fall could be costly.

Long drive due to roads but plenty to see, trouble is roads don't have many places to pull over.

pic from today - wish the cars weren't there! might have a look again over the weekend. Lamp-post could get cloned out.

^^^

Cloning out the lampost would be a work of art on its own, without traffic I don't think the stop? sign is terribly pretty either. There is also a shorter post that doesn't add quality to the pic. I find it interesting, maybe a little dark but watch the highlights on the bushes. Good job :)

cheers Chris - I had another look at it yesterday & cars were all gone, but so were almost all of the puddles.
Slightly different viewpoint to make the most of the remaining puddle, I've taken liberties with the lamp-post...
