Wilt Reader's Digest Condensed version of War and Peace [POTN Vol 1] More info Post edited over 2 years ago by Wilt. (3 edits in all) | Jun 29, 2021 13:32 | #4 Canon ramps up production of products, rather than continuously producing everything in their line up.
There is a backlog on a lot of products...semicondutors used in appliances and cars are in short supply, causing backlogs in delvery of those products. We are told our new washer is on backlog for 6-12 weeks; not just our brand, but other brands, too. You need to give me OK to edit your image and repost! CapnJack Cream of the Crop More info Post edited over 2 years ago by Capn Jack. | Jun 30, 2021 08:00 | #6 My employer has a 40 week lead time for one part of a product- that means, unless we can make or source it form elsewhere, that product has a 40 week lead time. One thing we are seeing is the manufacturing equivalent of buying up all the toilet paper. "We found a source for a part- buy enough to last us the rest of the year!" This causes priced to be bid up, which is part of the inflation we are seeing. Companies that embraced "Just-In Time" and "Lean" are having to change their operations since they are stocking up on parts in a way they didn't do so before.

TeamSpeed 01010100 01010011 More info Post edited over 2 years ago by TeamSpeed. | Jun 30, 2021 15:21 | #8 We live near Elkhart where they make all those resin lawn furniture, like Adirondack chairs, tables, etc. We ordered a set (tables/chairs) and it took months before we could get it. The plant nearby that makes the extruded "plastic lumber" that the surrounding shops use to make the furniture can't get enough plastic material, and also workers weren't working. So not only lead time is crazy, the increasing price that can be asked of customers is going insanely high in some markets. Past Equipment | My Personal Gallery

Wow...it seems to be affecting everything from A to Z. We, of course, always end up paying more and getting less service

One of our custom circuit boards, one of the driver chips behind that. The product is chromatography. We are designing around the part, so we'll wind up supporting two versions of the product to some degree. Part of the redesign is ensuring both boards act the same so we don't have to change the software, or make the different boards detectable by the software so it acts like a drop-in replacement.

Shenzhen all but closed their airport, although my colleague in that city is still going to work. They are always getting tested for the virus, seems like they are getting tested once a week.

So not only lead time is crazy, the increasing price that can be asked of customers is going insanely high in some markets. This same furniture market is also in a duel with the construction industry, like vinyl siding and vinyl flooring. When those core components are scarce, and workers are scarce, all these things go up in price. Interestingly those are all items we are looking at for our home too. ![]() So these lenses and teleconverters that have quite a few pieces in them, plastic and metal, are all sourced from different factories in many cases, so path from parts to a finished product on a shelf is long and arduous.
