A Female Mallard.

Nice shot of this mallard, Mark! This is actually a juvenile drake mallard that is in the process of getting it's adult coloration. The number one giveaway is the yellowish colored bill. Even at a young age the drakes always have the yellowish bill. The head of this duck is just beginning to turn green. By November, he will probably be fully colored. I'm just guessing, but it looks like he might possible have had a domestic duck in the breeding a ways back. I'm definitely not sure about that. He's pretty stocky for a wild duck, and that's why I mentioned the domestic duck somewhere along the line.

Sweet shot, Rob! Excellent work!

Neal, this goose appears to be in molting phase. If I had to guess, I think it might be a bar-headed goose. I noticed, it's even wearing a green leg band (cool). Nice capture.

Oooops! Thank you very much for that information Mike, very helpful! I definitely need to hone my bird identification skills as much as my photographic skills!
