Lame-Duck I have indeed had pine nuts More info | Aug 03, 2021 15:02 | #3037 Nice shot of this mallard, Mark! This is actually a juvenile drake mallard that is in the process of getting it's adult coloration. The number one giveaway is the yellowish colored bill. Even at a young age the drakes always have the yellowish bill. The head of this duck is just beginning to turn green. By November, he will probably be fully colored. I'm just guessing, but it looks like he might possible have had a domestic duck in the breeding a ways back. I'm definitely not sure about that. He's pretty stocky for a wild duck, and that's why I mentioned the domestic duck somewhere along the line. robamy wrote in post #19267555 ![]() Sweet shot, Rob! Excellent work! This is truly a magnificent shot, Jan! 4matic wrote in post #19267579 No idea what kind of duck or goose. ![]() Neal, this goose appears to be in molting phase. If I had to guess, I think it might be a bar-headed goose. I noticed, it's even wearing a green leg band (cool). Nice capture. Excellent sharpness and detail of this mockingbird close-up, Tom! Really nice! Dave, you are on a terrific roll with these beautiful Prothonotary warblers! Wonderful shot! LD, or Mike

I definitely need to hone my bird identification skills as much as my photographic skills! Mark
