A quick Google revealed it was a partial lunar eclipse (full on the 8th apparently) and not, as I thought, E.T. Shrugging off the alcoholic fug, I attempted to hand hold a 400 f2.8, with extender, and take some pics  Not a bad effort, especially for iso 12,800, but maybe i should do as bit of research next time and not have that last beer...
