It's annoying but I found that if you dig through the menus, you can turn off focus patterns, this way if you can minimize it getting thrown to another focus point.

I found on the 90d center point only (the normal box) works best. Same case on the 80d + 70d; That's what I used for everything you've seen posted here.

There's some really good tutorials on youtube for 90d focus setup:

I found Michael The Mavens Tutorial to be simple/down to earth and concise -

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zcL8-D1jF6M (external link)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HYH3LHzaZTg (external link)

I have seen and also used Michael the Maven before back in my Canon XSi days when that camera was new.. One of his videos that I did not like he did on a beach with the waves, the sound of the waves coming on shore were pretty annoying to me, but yes he is good otherwise.

Slight Rant (I'm on 2 cups of coffee): The FIRST Thing I do when I get any new Canon camera: Turn off that BEEPING sound. Why we have this on cameras and microwaves is beyond me!!!! Nothing is WORSE than being in a national park, with an amazing scene in front of you, then hearing "Beep Beep Beep Beep!!!" Which, it's stupid, because JUST because it "beeps" does not mean it's actually in focus from an accuracy standpoint. So it's just one more "feel good" setting that needs to go away forever. Alternatively, you can simply roll with the focus point turning red, this way it does not have to be broadcast to the entire world "I've acquired focus". The beeping also announces: "I just bought this camera at Costco, have never used it before, but I felt compelled to finally use it now that I'm on vacation" :-D

LOL LOL LOL!!

Amazing trees
They are rather large :-P
It's as though your wife is standing beside some huge animal. The tree on her right looks like two cloven feet at the end of huge legs!
Are they Redwood?

A youngster, I think, about 2" long. Holding perfectly still.
Taken from MFD (about 12'), with my birding lens. Slightly cropped.

90D owners, can you bracket upto 5 images, and does top dial have C1 C2 where you can have a number of different settings set to each. So you can move back and forth fast for different type's of shooting.

Don't know about the 5-shot bracketing. C1, C2, yes. (C3, no)
