I sure wish there were more smart people out there like you! I have spent plenty of time doing architectural drafting, I learned to draft by hand, and now do it all in AutoCAD.

AutoCAD? Wow, that’s old school. I thought everyone was on Revit by now.

Thanks Travis. BTW, I don't use tracking at all for BIF. Mark Smith recommends against it, and my own experiments confirm his findings. Besides, if you're trying to capture more than one bird in the air, you usually want the closest one to the camera to be in focus.

I have used it, and with good success for larger birds. For small birds, it doesn't seem to work well at all...or...and more likely...I am doing something wrong.

We are old school...at almost 45 and with nearly 22 years in the field...I am the youngest in our firm...the 3 partners have no desire to change to Revit. We looked at it several years ago, but for what we do, it is overkill. Our team is pretty good at our niche and we make it work with AutoCAD...they keep releasing new versions, so we will keep buying it. If they stop selling it to force everyone to Revit, we will all just retire. I have no desire to learn Revit.

Thanks to Alfredo for the reminder about the Natural Landscape Photography Awards. I think I finally decided on my submissions. I have no delusions, just like the concept of this "awards" and what it stands for. I like the work of all of the judges too. They are all well respected and experts in their craft. So I put together a little collage of what I am submitting. I think it is a good represenation of me and my work over the last 3 years or so.

You are too kind David...I had a tough time deciding what to enter. But decided I needed to get off the fence about it.

Thats a real wonderful top of the mark collection, Travis. Well done.
Do you have to give each photo a description like a caption?

For a long shooter/the 200600 is on my A1 99% of the time, it's just sensical to have
the 28-60 in the pocket. When we used to travel I could have done a whole trip with just
those two lenses.

Excellent set Travis! Beautiful images. I especially like the second one on the left and Mt Rainer (3rd column, top). Glad you were able to submit this year.

It is interesting to put together a collection of work, and see if there are themes or concepts or patterns that show up...also good for self evaluation. I don't think we have to put any words to it...maybe those that win will get to tell the story behind them.

I will be...I never expect to win or do well in competitions. especially when competing against the really big names and those that get to experience the most amazing places all the time for a living. Kinda like me trying to go compete in Formula 1...I can drive a car, on track...but i can't comepte with them.

I found this dog lamp in an antique shop in a small village near where I live and thought it would be perfect for my modest whiskey bar that I have set up in my sitting room. I should have ditched the bottle with the yellow cap back there...I never notice that stuff until too late
