Why not go for the free ride. You never know, might be a firesale on Sony gears in Scotland haha!
I just put another EOS lens on the FM buy/sell thread. All Fuji gone (except the XT30 I use for the gnarly
hikes). I kinda like being in one system. Makes the thought process of what to take a lot easier ;)

Haha a brand switch is the last thing I need in my life. Been there, done that too many times. I’ve now owned Sony longer than any other brand so think I’m in the right place for my use

I know a few of you do it.......

So monitor calibration devices & software please guys?

X-rite i1 Display Studio? Currently about £100 on Am**on if the 30% off works.....

I don't think mine is miles off because no one seems to make comments based off of that but I'd still like to get on top of it.

Got this recently. X-Rite i1Display Pro Plus (Amazon).
i1Profiler software from x-rite.
TBH I’m not really sure if it made much of a difference. To my untrained amateur eye I don’t see a difference.

Looks like the container ship landed this week on the east coast! I had one on backorder at B&H that I cancelled just in time after my local store called, and now they are showing in stock there as well. I prefer picking it up in person if I can though, so I made the trip this morning, had a nice lunch in Portland, went to the camera store and brought it home.

I bought the spyder one from Amazon and it was mega buggy and had to go back so avoid that one. The x-rite seems to get good reviews. Once you have it people recommend the displaycal software as opposed to the software by the manufacturers. It’s free and supposed to be more accurate

It does make a difference in calibrating monitor brightness and color accuracy. I also use the Xrite calibration unit. My monitor brightness is set for printing and that's how I edit. I believe my reading is 80 candela per sq meter. I use a white background in LR and a light grey one in Photoshop.

Xrite bought - £96 on offer so see how it goes. I've never calibrated this monitor but I did use a Spyder many many years ago!

Holy smokes on my initial test with Helicon Focus. I have been trying for about 2 hours trying to align a series of focus stacked images in Photoshop of a possible portfolio image. Photoshop failed to align things properly. Yes there was some movement in the ferns I captured but Photoshop failed. I tried Helicon and it did aligned and focus stacked about 99% of a final result given the slight movement of the foliage. I just have to go in and manually clone a few bits.

Congrats! I didn't go for the CFA cards, just too expensive for the size, and I will see if I can live with it. If it becomes an issue for video, I will break down and buy one.

Good to know, I still do all of mine manually, but moving ferns and foreground elements can e trick even manually. Can't wait to see it.

Yeah, but your pocket book is better off...I basically took everything I have made from photography this year and returned it into gear...probably not the best decision...but I am going with it...only live once.

Thanks! Will keep working on it. For now, how about a black and white image from RMNP?

Personally, I'm not usually a black & white person.

But that, my friend, is bloody lovely!! 8-)
