Had a few friends over last Tuesday, (the 3rd), for a few drinks around the fire pit and saw a glow just above the horizon around 1AM. A quick Google revealed it was a partial lunar eclipse (full on the 8th apparently) and not, as I thought, E.T. ;-)a Shrugging off the alcoholic fug, I attempted to hand hold a 400 f2.8, with extender, and take some pics :p
Not a bad effort, especially for iso 12,800, but maybe i should do as bit of research next time and not have that last beer...

Some local history, Saint Medan aka "The Queen in the mountain", an Irish Saint who allegedly sailed the southern Scottish coast around the Machars, and specifically Monreith Bay, in a boat made of rock. Look hard enough and you can see her image, along with her hound and serpent, in the rocks.

Nice. I don't know if I have that good using a tripod. And definitely not at 12,800

A sober Scotsman, what a concept. :-)
Sorry, you set yourself up and I couldn't resist.
