I had an old Dakine photography backpack that eventually fell apart.

I’m thinking about getting something new that can hold a non-grip 5D and a couple of small to medium size L lenses.

I’m a relatively big guy at 6’3” and close to 275 pounds so some of the backpacks feel like I’m carrying my little daughter’s stuff to kindergarten.

What would be a good medium size bag for a big/fat man? I’ve noticed that some of the reviews of the Mindshift gear says it’s on the small side.

I have a Mindshift Backlight 36L and like it.
Only 5’11” tall, 46 Regular Jacket, this pack fits well. A little taller than most, but it holds a lot and supports it well.
I bought my 36L at Samy’s on Fairfax in Los Angeles.

That’s a great bag I have the 36L as well but I actually think it’s a bit big for me specially since I just “lost” my 24-70. @ToyotaGlock look into the 26L and the 18L specially since your camera isn’t gripped.

I had the 26L. It is well-made, but I suspect the torso length on that pack will be a little short for a tall guy. It started to hurt my shoulders after about 4 miles.

I prefer the Atlas Athlete pack for fit. They have two torso sizes, and I assume you'd want the large. They aren't cheap but they are very well made and fit me extremely well (fit of course varies person to person). Just another option to consider.
