That is a really cool shot of the runway. for something 3.3km or 2 miles long that looks really small from your point of view.

You would only over or under shoot it once wouldn't you!

R.A.F. Gan, the R.A.F's own holiday camp in the sun, had a runway like that. It started on one beach and finished on the other side of the island at the beach. From this it looks as if the runway has been extended. There was a 19 hole glof course that went right around the periphery of the island and the gloffers had to stop if an aircraft was landing because the course crossed the runway at both ends!

I was never lucky (???) enough to be posted there. It would have been a year in the sun, unacompanied by wife/children/etc! But I did get to stop there on route to Singapore. That was enough.

We actually lost a Comet 4C there when the driver did a slight overshoot and finished up on the beach, half in the ogin :eek: Not a popular bloke!

My ambition for a good while is to grow old disgracefully. So far my wife tells me that I am doing really well!

Windrows
Hay is cut and raked into lines called "windrows" where it is allowed to dry for a few days. After drying , it is made into round bales, like those in the upper right corner of the square

More windrows- I thought they were mazes at first, although it is early in the season for mazes.

The tractors that do such precision farming have GPS guided autopilots. I worked in a hangar that belonged to a seed corn farmer and he took me to one of his longer fields to take pictures of how straight the rows were. About a mile long and straight as an arrow.
