Sony Lounge Thread MKIII (All Sony cameras welcome)

The a99ii sold, now to determine if I can justify paying $2K for the a7c with kit lens vs $1300 for a used a7iii.

I love the idea of the smaller body/kit lens, so probably leaning that way and hoping for an open box deal somewhere.

I gave the car a good wash and detail yesterday, since I was planning to go to a car show today, woke up too late to shoot some light painted images like I wanted to in the dark before anyone got there...stupid margaritas last night! But it was clean, so I snapped a shot off anyway. It needs to be lowered to lose the wheel gap and daily driving it has been hard on the paint...

Lowered or not Travis, that is a lovely motor! Love the graphite grey type colour on cars.

But a day after I hobbled to the dock and slowly got in a kayak.

The only take away from this shot is ISO performance of the A7c/6400.

I hate it that you got injured, but happy it didn’t keep you from the kayak and a great shot. Hoping you heal quickly!

Mail call. Haven’t been this excited over a lens in a long time.

I got rid of my 1.4X teleconverter over a year ago. I decided I needed one back.

there is just no amount of gear that can overcome the absolute worst gym lighting...yes, I could shoot in electronic shutter and not have the banding and color issues the a9 has...but it is still dark. This was ISO 6400...some of the lights are burning out, some are brand new, some are out entirely...and I can't get them to do anything about it...the colors are miserable to work with. This was a balanced exposure, since there are bright spots and dark spots, I pulled shadows up and dropped highlights to try to mitigate the vast differences...

That’s a fascinating piece. It would merge so many lenses into a single piece. I see it as the ultimate travel lens or if your a prime user the ultimate zoom compliment. Will it be bulky? Yes but I’m also the same person who has a Sigma 35 F/1.2 on my A7R4 attached almost all the time. Lol

As someone who shoots portraits most of the time, I can't really see how I'd be interested in this lens, unless Tamron really knocks it out of the park with IQ. At the wide end it's already a tad slower than the 35 1.8 and would be noticeably slower than a 1.4, and at the long end it's still only 150mm, and this while although I like the 70-180, it can feel short sometimes. With this, the 35-150 will also still be a variable aperture lens, which just complicates things when shooting portraits.

Depending on its weight, size and price, it could end up being the worst of both worlds: heftier and slower than most primes (except Tamron's terribly reviewed 2.8 primes?), while still being shorter than a decent portrait lens and a weight premium (I'd expect it to be at least as heavy as the 70-180). Plus, you won't even be able to complement it with the Tamron 17-28 very well, as you'll lose a bit of focal length range (not crippling I know) but also by being bumped up a stop for the switch.

I guess it will depend on which focal lengths that the lens will be able to do f/2 at (is the info out there yet?). Unless it does f/2 until about at least 50mm (and I doubt it will), I can't say I'd think of it being worth it.
