I have a 5DSR and a 7D II I want shutter counts for. I use Windows but have an iPad Pro if that helps. Recommendations? I don't want to download anything with malware but I do not mind paying a few bucks for the reading.

This is exactly what you're looking for. Exactly what I was looking for under the same circumstances.

It only works on Mac, so you'd need to put it on your Ipad. I do wish they had a Windows version, but I've got it installed on my Ipad and it works great. It connects to your camera over the same path as the Canon Camera Connect app, so it doesn't rely on EXIF data for the shutter count.

It costs $6 (which is a 20% bump from when I bought it.) There's an upgrade option that lets you do other, shutter count related things. Don't know anything about that.

Someone posted this some time ago, and I found it worked on Windows with my 7DII.
