For the better part of the last dozen years or so, I've used this bag when traveling. It's a Tamrac CyberPro Express. When I purchased it new, it came in right around $350. After 12 years, I think it's safe to say I've certainly gotten my money out of it:

The telescoping handle is starting to get a bit wonky. Sometimes is won't extend all the way and, being 6'2" tall, that gets to be problematic. The second problem I have is that, sometimes, the handle won't retract. This is problematic when trying to fit this into an overhead bin or under a seat on an airplane.

I would love to replace this, but I've yet to find anything that's really similar to this. Most rolling bags that I'm finding tend to look like backpacks with wheels. Those are fine, but I really, really like the design of this one. One of the things I really like about it is that, if I'm traveling with just my Fuji X100F, I can pull the dividers out of this and use it as as a short-trip, carry-on suitcase.

Any idea where I might find, if not this (Tamrac apparently no longer makes it), something similar to it?

Muchos grassyass!

Just shut up and smile...

The Think Tank Airport Navigator is similar to the Tamrac.

Yeah, I've seen that one. Probably a top contender at the moment.

Thanks!

Sounds like your really pleased so I have to ask if you've taken any steps to fix the existing bag. I have a similar bag and you can get access from the inside panel to the "rails" for lack of a better terms. Sometimes there are zippers hiding the rails. I grease them every couple of years with WD-40 Silicone, Quick-Drying Lubricant. Note it is not the regular WD-40 although that might work. This leaves a film that is far less oily than regular WD-40.

The 11 oz. can is about $6 at Home Depot

Consideration:

  • Get a 4-wheel roller travel bag that rolls in any direction, and insert your Tamrac dividers into it.
