We were fortunate to see 2 nice sunsets in a row while visiting El Nido, Palawan, Philippines. Here is the 2nd one.

Shooting the sunset @ Kailua-Kona during vacay, I saw this gent come into my frame and started to cast his fishing line into the sea... Initially I was pissed off that he ruined my beautiful sunset scenery... But then I looked into the viewfinder again and thought this would be a much better shot... Instead of just the sunset and its amazing sunrays, the addition of the gentlemen fishing and the palm trees add more to the capture than what I could've imagined... With that said, thank you to the fishing man FOR NOT ruining my shot, but making it better than I visually expected!!!

As the saying goes, "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade..." This was definitely LEMONADE!!!

:love::-D

What if he had a camera instead of a fishing pole, could you still make lemonade then? Just thinking out loud...happen to me too many times. BTW, love this image, Butch!!

Is this a sunset shot? The sun had set about 35 minutes prior, so as the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket launched higher and higher, it actually flew back into the sunshine, illumination the rocket exhaust of the second stage. This was the Inspiration-4 launch from last night, 15 Sep 2021.

Excellent photo!!

Launch trajectory and cloud cover blocked us from seeing it from here.

This is 3 exposures . . .

The main one that captures the yellow streak was about 2 min and 30 seconds. Followed closely by 2 more, each about 90-120 seconds to catch the second stage plume up in the daylight.

I was about 8 miles away, so used 16mm, ISO100, F20. I find that I adjust the F stop a bit as I get farther away, At 16-20 miles I would use F16 or so. You are hard pressed to get a good streak shot much closer that 7 or 8 miles (unless you use a fisheye or something, of which I don't have). Also, I use the field-of-view calculator to make sure my lens will capture the streak. I have been caught a couple of times with a 24mm lens and should have had the 16 on.
