Two of the Domes at the McDonald Observatory, Ft. Davis Texas. We went to what they call a star party here and were able to gaze through four different telescopes. The Milky Way spanned the entire sky straight above us. Just the right time of year to see that.

There were some neat looking clouds out the other day, so I thought I would take a drive down to the Pemaquid Lighthouse.

After spending the last four years shooting the a99ii, getting used to the a7c has been a process of trial and error. Mission accomplished on cutting down the size of my kit, as my new body is basically the size of my old a6000. I'm really liking it combined with the 55 1.8, an old favorite of mine from years back.

I carried the combo with me for my daughter's nine-hole golf tournament, and it was barely noticeable. So much so, that I lost the lens hood somewhere along the way--oops! Shooting with the silent shutter is great for golf, but not so good for capturing a full swing. The rolling shutter is real, and I have a lot to lear/re-learn about shooting again after an extended layoff. But hey--this got me back shooting again with something other than my iPhone, and for that I'm pretty happy about.

I drive down this ally each morning after dropping my daughter off at school. I saw this reflection after a morning rain last year. I heard the rain this morning and put the camera in the car. Kind of a quickie but a neat and different view of the capital building here in Boise.

Cool shot Lee! I was just out in the Idaho back country for a few days. No moon until very early in the morn so the stars were pretty mind blowing. I don't really know what I'm doing but took a crack a couple shots.

Not sure if these are maple leaves but they captured my attention being backlit.

Nice Cory. My boy has the manual focus 12mm - he can get away with f/2 and 20 seconds at a push. Ps take half a dozen exposures and stack for noise reduction.

Here we go. I will be preordering it day one. Wonder how it will stack up against the older A9II.

Should be a great camera especially based on how good the A73 is. I still think the A9 and A9II will be ahead though in terms of AF as they have the faster processor and readout etc (A1 even faster again).

Was out and about this last weekend and saw that somebody has a really nice little dock on this pond. Note the two lawn chairs set out.

I just got a 1.4X extender to go with my A9 and 200-600. My previous experience with an extender was the Canon 1.4 (7d mk ii and 100-400), and I hated it. I ended up selling it off because I never used it.
My initial tests of the Sony, with my backyard cats were really encouraging.
I'm heading to Africa tomorrow, so I'm glad that B and H got it to me in time. I figured , better to have it and not need it, than wish I had one with me.
I'd like to hear some thoughts from those who have used the Sony 1.4 extender.

I use that combination all the time with excellent results. The only time I take the TC off is if the light is so bad that at f9 it becomes untenable to keep the shutter speed and ISO reasonable.
