When I got my R6, I relegated my R to use as a backup and primary for studio use. This camera and the RF 24-105 do not disappoint!

Thank you! Don't get me wrong, the R6 is far superior to the R, in my opinion, but the R is still a great camera for my usage in studio and for video work on a gimbal.

House wren. Sigma 150-600 contemporary. I think this camera is highly underrated for wildlife.

This camera is highly underrated period. Always was. Like a lot of other devices these days, all people ever did was find reasons to complain about it. No good. All bad. Everything BAD. That's why I don't pay any attention to that crap anymore and haven't for years. I see a camera I like and I buy it. Knowing full well that no device is perfect.

I agree with this. I bought it a couple months ago, and I find it to be very capable with lots of features. I would've preferred to spend less and go with an APS-C, but the M6 was disappointing, and the R7 is still in the ether.

So this is my first FF, and I have been pleasantly surprised with it. It's way more capable than my prior cameras. From what I've read, it falls short when it comes to autofocus on moving subjects, but that's not something I usually shoot. It's a 3 year old model as of this month, which is "old" in tech terms, but it's still a darn fine camera.

I agree. what a large amount of people do is judge equipment on performance before they even know how to use it to it's fullest, then there are the ones who judge equipment without their own skill level being thought of and lastly there's the group who chase numbers of the tests they put cameras through.
Jared Polin enlightend me to stop chasing #'s and actually learn your equipment. The tests they use to compare doesn't always = real life use.

Cheers,
JOE

I agree too and to prove it I went from an R6 to the R. The main reason for that is not because I didn't like the R6, I did, it was great. The issue for me was it was WAY overkill for my needs and I wasn't crazy about that 24-105L lens it came with. Sure, I could have split it up but I did much better selling the kit as I bought it.

The bump in resolution didn't hurt either!
