I need a monitor for the new MacBook…does this BenQ look good for photos/video editing?
https://www.benq.com …3220u/specifications.html (external link)

Other strong recommendations? I want color accuracy color and Thunderbird connectivity,, but am very demanding regarding the overall monitor aesthetics: sleekness and beautiful lines are preferred. This BenQ model looks like it threads the design/performance needle, but I’d love something even more elegant. Also interested in a ultrawide.

Thank you! Sometimes I feel like I’m over sharing. I guess I’m making up for taking some long breaks the past year.

Has anyone heard from Gene, Robert, or Carlo?

Stunning images Alfredo, keep it up.
I was texting with Carlo not too long ago. Joking about how awful the wedding photographer was at a wedding I went to.

For myself I didn’t give a rip about the platform: Windows or Mac is good. However, if I really didn’t want a Mac, then I wouldn’t bother with it; I’d just limit my shopping to Windows machines.

These M1 Macs are all about power efficiency, and, no, there isn’t anything close to matching it on PC yet. But, you can go with a PC that matches the power via sheer brute force, which means getting a laptop that’s bulkier, requires a lot more wattage, and runs hotter with more fan noise.

My current Windows PC (very powerful in its day) has lasted me 8 long years, and I’m hoping the new MacBook will hold up for me just as long. Longterm strategy I just wanted a laptop, regardless whether it’s a Mac or PC, that is the currently best available in hopes of getting the longest life out of it.

Congrats David, they do look amazing. I really don’t need one, but really, really, really want one :-P

David I have the PD2700U. Couldn’t recommend benQ more. Accuracy out the box seemed great compared to my calibrated settings which only changed it slightly. Looks like a nice monitor to me too in terms of aesthetics

Thanks Eddie, I had a faint memory that you might have a benQ, so I really appreciate your recommendation. I’ve been looking and haven’t found a more ideal monitor than the BenQ PD monitors. I’m a little concerned about the brightness. The 32” I’m looking at is a little dimmer than your 27”, but I’m sure it’s fine.

It’s been a while since I calibrated but from memory the calibration process also altered the brightness of my monitor so if I was say at brightness 50 pre calibration I was at 60 post calibration for the same overall brightness (made up numbers but just to try and explain what I mean). I could be wrong but not sure how I would have that vague memory otherwise

I hadn’t seen the Techradar review, but now I just have thanks to you. :) That’s a positive helpful review.

This is my fourth image in my Flow State series. Instead of photographing the entire waterfall, I chose to focus on this section where the side light was hitting the rock and water.

A scouting trip of sorts to the sand dunes in Colorado from last year. I definitely need to return for an overnight stay dedicated to photography here.

Thanks Alfredo. I have indeed been considering that one. It appears to be a truly awesome monitor, but I’m stumbling a bit over its lack of a Thunderbolt connection and its chunkier less-refined product-design aesthetics. Price is also giving me some pause. That said, unlike the other model, the SW321c has impressive coverage of the Adobe RGB color space, and that’s a big deal for us photo-editors.

I think its now down to these two benQ monitors now and I’ll continue researching.

Beautiful artistry Alfredo. Brilliant framing. The light is exquisite.
