I found the heat discoloration interesting on this automotive thermostat. The colors were pretty nice relative to the dull look of the other metal parts. I've not seen this on other thermostats I've replaced in the past:

Love the bokeh in your shots! I can get somewhat similar using the 50/1.4 but not quite as nice. I've done composites to practice but it doesn't look quite right like a SOOC capture. May have to play more with the light placement.
