Travis, have you seen Mark Smith’s setup guide? I think it would work well.

no, will check it out. I watched one from Mark Galer, Colby Brown, and another one from someone I can't remember...but I find that I let my setup evolve to how I use the camera, I start with how the others are setup, and figure out how new features play into my workflow. The ease of getting into crop mode by accident has to be changed though...I can't have that happen again when it really counts...bought 50MP...I want them all.

So I unmapped the lens button, I had that setup for APSC mode, great when shooting sports, but it got bumped and a couple images that I really like got shot in APSC and not full frame. Like these two. I figured it out right after the first one here was shot. It must have gotten bumped as I put the camera on the tripod, not sure.

Forgot to mention that I enjoyed both images especially the first one with the light and darkness surrounding the cascades.

Yesterday I hiked up to the lakes in RMNP. I love the mountain peaks at this location. This was captured during blue hour. No clouds in the sky but the scene was still worth the early morning hike in the dark.

I have some images when the stars were out and will edit those soon. It felt great being the only one at this super popular location before sunrise.

Oh, I had forgotten my spikes somehow so the hike was super sketchy. I fell once on the ice and hit my head. Thankfully no issues but I will make sure to bring my spikes next time.

Thank you sir! I had almost forgotten to grab a detailed shot like this with my 24-105 because I was shooting wide with my Batis 18. Glad I remembered. Yes, I count myself super lucky to be within 2 hours of a great national park.

After shooting, I found some elk in a big meadow. Don't know if I have anything decent but will check.

Btw, I received my a1 today. Feels great in the hands. Setting it up right now.

This is great. I mean, we all love the fiery oranges & reds, but this works very well too.

Ohh, and Go Careful!! But as least you didn't damage any gear

I managed a showery local walk today & managed a few shots. Took the 35GM, CV40 & the £23 Yashica ML135/2.8C I bought last week from that auction site.

£23 because the aperture blades were very, very slow to close - I've never seen any so bad - literally took several seconds to close down. Obviously this is irrelevant when adapted to Sony but no good for stopped down shooting on the film camera. Luckily I just fixed it this evening in about 10 minutes or so

Cheers Lee! Yep, no gear damage as everything was secured in my hiking pack. No damage to my tripod either.

Thank you David! It truly is a landscape playground in Colorado. Just takes a little effort to get to the great areas. Thank you for the well wishes. I’m more embarrassed than anything but grateful nothing serious happened. I always tell my wife the exact area I’m hiking before I leave. Just in case.

Btw, the light on the peaks is from a quarter moon that was out. Lee, I tried to line up the Milky Way but the alignment was off. More planning needed to execute the shot. Also the quarter moon washed out the sky a bit.
