Every week we select a new theme, and then go out and shoot that theme. This week the theme is Neglected/Forgotten. As always be as imaginative/creative as you like when interpreting the theme, creativity is what we're looking for.

Show us something that is Neglected or Forgotten

Here are the rules:
1. Shots need to be taken between Tuesday, after the new theme is posted and the following Monday by sunset (Whenever that is for you). Because this activity is supposed to encourage us to get out and shoot, please don't post old shots from your archives. Snapshots and art are equally welcome -- just get out & shoot, and then share!
2. Post your shots at any time during the week.
3. Post a maximum of two shots if you're uploading them to POTN (i.e., attaching them). You can post more than two if you're linking to shots that are not hosted by POTN (i.e. embedding them) but keep within POTN rules. Also keep within POTN rules about size. A copy of the size rules can be found here: IMAGE POSTING RULES
That's it! Have fun! As always be as imaginative/creative as you like when interpreting the theme, creativity is what we're looking for.
An index to previous weeks can be found here: POTN WORLDWIDE PHOTO WEEK INDEX

That's it!
Have fun!

Is it just me or does it seem like people are either neglecting this thread or forgetting to post to it?

I nearly went into a detailed reply as to why I am not an active poster in this forum, although wished I was. I then reread your comment and it made me laugh :- it’s only 7am and my eyes are still tired!

I had an answer in mind to your query. Unfortunately, I failed to write it down, and . . .

I really, really like these Worldwide Photo Week threads that Joayne does such a great job with!

But I don't get to post to them very often. . Why? . Because when I am out shooting, that usually means that I am away from home and don't have access to my computer for downloading, or that I do not have time for editing, or that I do not have an internet connection for posting to POTN.

And then of course if I am at home and have access to my computer and the internet, and time to download, sort, and edit, I am not out shooting.

So I typically do a lot of shooting, away from home, and then when I get home a week or three later, I finally have a chance to go through all the photos, pick out those I like, edit them, and post them. . The timing of this workflow does not work at all for a thread that requires that we post a photo on the same week in which we take it.

But, I still love the idea of these threads, and spend time checking out the entries when I have internet access. . And a few times each year I get to shoot around home, and that is exciting to me because then I am able to participate in these threads and post a few photos of my own!

.

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

Neglected but not Forgotten!

Here's my poor neglected fence.. It's about 50 years old and the posts are starting to rot near the irrigation bubblers. I just put in 90+ feet of brand new fencing, but have more to replace. This one will most likely be next as the others are still standing and were replaced about 10 years ago.. The old stuff really lasted a long time. All the other sections of this area are still solid.

We all do the best we can, or at least what we want, and that is just fine. I've been doing this so long now, I had to go back and look to see that I've been participating for 15 years, helping to run it for 13 and actually running it for 12.. That's a long run.

To stay in the garden theme here is my entry. While we have some plants that have survived multiple years this is not one of them. During the summer neglected, being burned in the scorching sun with way to little water. Now the dead remains are drowning in the autumn rain.

Our basement storage area with boxes packed for our last move in 2006, their contents long forgotten and obviously not missed.
May be surprising when we finally open them up again.

And we do really appreciate it. There are weeks when I take out the camera just to get something for WWPW. I am constantly refreshing the POTN page on tuesday mornings in anticipation of the new theme :-) And I do appreciate everyone who posts to this series. I just love to see how others interpret the theme.

Oh, and BTW, my comment was totally tongue-in-cheek, in case that didn't come through :-)

54 year old drafting lamp I purchased when I went to University to study Engineering. The last 20 years it has served as the shop lamp over my barn workbench. In spite of the dust, rust, and the hay bale twine to help the now weak springs, it continues to work.
