I don't why but this nearly submerged log piece reminds of a mountain peak rising above a frozen ocean.

FE 24-105mm

That’s what I thought it was too! Very cool shot

Exciting…Congrats Omar! :) Tracking has mine coming this Thursday…can’t wait. I ordered my 32” BenQ monitor, which should arrive around the same time.

Thanks David! It’s just feels like such a nice more refined machine in hand. This coming from an old 2011 MBP that served me well for almost a decade! Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on both.

I am still stuck on size of 14 for convenience but that 16 has so much real estate on the screen. I am also trying to understand what core set up I need...... ugh so much thinking

I think you can’t go wrong on either one! I did some edits on the 14, and sure it’s smaller than a 16, but I had no issue navigating around making the edits. It doesn’t “feel” cramped like a 14 did to which I wonder if it’s the notch integration that’s providing that extra ommph space/feeling.

The A7IV is calling my cc. 33mp looks like a happy medium for me. I sold my RIV when I shifted to real estate because of the huge files. I still do portrait sometimes so I think the 7IV is perfect for me.

Who else pre-ordered?

I placed my preorder right at noon (EST) when they opened up on B&H so I should be in one of the first groups to ship out. Which means that hopefully I should get the A7IV right before Christmas of 2025 with all the delays :-P

David, meant to ask you, what model of BenQ did you go with in the end? Apologies if you have said already and I’ve missed it

I ended up selecting the PD3220U. Not as good as the technically superior photography monitor (SW321C), but I had to consider all my budget priorities. I needed one more expensive tool for my workshop (HVLP level 5 turbine system), and that forced me to go with the lower cost monitor. Aesthetically I prefer the PD3220U and I’m really excited about how nice it’s going to look in my new office space.

Photographers are a funny bunch, we are always wanting to go explore a new place, find something new, chase light in a foreign setting or just be out on the road. But we also have those places that we hold close, and want to return to year after year, during all seasons. These are the places that help center us, get us back on track, or allow us to just enjoy the process of photography and not be consumed by the overwhelming feeling that we have to capture a stunning image during our time there. When you know a place so well, you begin to find the nuances and things that make it special. You begin to focus more on images that truly capture the character and soul of an environment. For me, that place is called Tremont in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Tremont is a place for me that I can slow down and work more peacefully. There is nothing like the sound of a river or creek running right next to you all day.

This Episode is dedicated to Tremont, it is the compilation of an entire day spent there during the fall of 2021.

Just watched it during my break on my large display. Looked great Travis! I enjoyed the images and music. Only slight miss was some flicker on some camera movements. But overall really well done.

Nice one David, that’s the 32inch version of mine (27 inch) and I love it so hopefully it should do the trick for you

Thanks for checking it out.

yeah that flicker...I can't figure it out...it shows up in a different place every time I render it out. I thought maybe I was rendering too high quality and overloading the machine, but reducing the quality didn't help. It was really frustrating. I also think that some of the slider stuff is not as smooth because IBIS was turned on...this weekend I am going to test it on and off and see if that was it. I wish I could get it all perfect...

Yay! My Macbook Pro and BenQ monitor arrived the afternoon while I was at the Doctor. Unboxing right now. :-)

Boo! My Gastroenterologist has confirmed that my 2015 hernia surgery has failed and he needs to operate…possibly as early as next Monday. That sucks because I’m amidst trying to get our house prepped for new flooring and it looks like that’s going to be on pause for another 6-8 weeks. Our flooring has already been sitting at the contractor’s warehouse for several weeks.

I pre-ordered as well, a few days after pre-orders opened. Looking forward to finding out how quickly I will get it.
