Photographers are a funny bunch, we are always wanting to go explore a new place, find something new, chase light in a foreign setting or just be out on the road. But we also have those places that we hold close, and want to return to year after year, during all seasons. These are the places that help center us, get us back on track, or allow us to just enjoy the process of photography and not be consumed by the overwhelming feeling that we have to capture a stunning image during our time there. When you know a place so well, you begin to find the nuances and things that make it special. You begin to focus more on images that truly capture the character and soul of an environment. For me, that place is called Tremont in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Tremont is a place for me that I can slow down and work more peacefully. There is nothing like the sound of a river or creek running right next to you all day.

This Episode is dedicated to Tremont, it is the compilation of an entire day spent there during the fall of 2021.

Just got a chance to watch. Lovely…enjoyed it. :)

Yay! My Macbook Pro and BenQ monitor arrived the afternoon while I was at the Doctor. Unboxing right now. :-)

Boo! My Gastroenterologist has confirmed that my 2015 hernia surgery has failed and he needs to operate…possibly as early as next Monday. That sucks because I’m amidst trying to get our house prepped for new flooring and it looks like that’s going to be on pause for another 6-8 weeks. Our flooring has already been sitting at the contractor’s warehouse for several weeks.

Good news on the Mac and screen David, not so good on the other news. Wishing you a speedy recovery

Contrary to what the general public thinks Gastroenterologists are not surgeons. They are endoscopists. Endoscopy is not surgery. You'll be seeing an actual surgeon to fix what I suspect is a Nissen fundoplication/hiatal hernia anti-reflux surgery.

I only comment because I am a nurse practitioner in gastroenterology and I'm currently very bitter with my practice. This comment is a little jab at all endo docs while hiding anonymously behind my username in an online forum that the people who sign my paycheck will never see....and it makes me feel good for a few minutes....lol! ;-)a :-P

Inguinal. Also I incorrectly identified the dr as a gastroenterologist…turns out he’s just a general surgeon.

I'm going to try a z9 and see how it goes for my wildlife. I really like the 500 PF lens, so I wanted to give Nikon another go. Right now I'm planning to keep my a7r III and Sony glass for general purpose. I'm a fan of both systems for different reasons, but have been underwhelmed until now with Nikon mirrorless.

I would try the Sony a1 but that’s just me still being giddy over it. You already have the excellent 200-600.

Haha….that makes more sense in that it might be a bit more urgent. I hope it all goes well!

Nice one David, that’s the 32inch version of mine (27 inch) and I love it so hopefully it should do the trick for you

Thanks Eddie. Your recommendation couldn't have been better. I've just set up my MacBook Pro with the BenQ Monitor and WOW does this display look absolutely phenomenal. Colors appear accurate and the screen is incredibly evenly illuminated from center to edge. Lightyears improved over my old 2010 Dell Ultrasharp 32" 2K monitor. I'm quite certain the photo-editing BenQ model is measurably superior, but this "designer" monitor is so great that I have no regrets.

I also bought the BenQ monitor light for lighting up my worktop and that thing is fantastic as well.

For keyboard and mouse I went with the Logitech MX keys and mouse. Exceptional build quality on the keyboard and a good match to the Mac's space gray color.
