So beautiful. I appreciate the stunning sharpness and pinpoint stars the 35GM is delivering here. I wish the leading-line fence wasn’t cut short in the frame. The light and texture of the windmill structure is awesome as are the softly lit clouds on the horizon.

Yes David. I agree. I took the 35mm thinking it would be perfect but I think the 20G would have been better in hindsight to include more foreground......

Thanks ;)

:)

I took this quick shot of my temporary desk setup. I've given no effort to do cable management; hopefully I can get things tidier in the finished office space when renovations are complete. Not much to see here - it's just a monitor - but I did want to show off the cool BenQ "Screen Bar" light fixture because it's just awesome. Also the puck (sitting on the monitor stand) lets me easily switch back and forth between displaying my MacBook Pro and my PC (which is sitting on the floor next to the desk).

It's going to take me a LOT of effort to get my stuff transitioned off my PC to the MacBook. Just transferring my Lightroom catalog will take hours.

BTW: the ugly moire in the photo is purely a downsampled thing. This display is beautifully smooth in person.

Love the setup David. I've been meaning to purchase that light.

I find myself composing and editing my wildlife images similar to how I approach my landscape images.

Ready for takeoff. These little sparrows are hard to photograph. They spook so easily.

I have not touched another camera on this trip. I am willing to switch between video and stills with the A1 to have the quality and resolution. It is such a different beast. I am still learning the menus though...this morning I could not find Bright Monitoring...and needed it!

I never even watch a single video or review of the A1 because I know i cannot afford it anyway. Congrats.

Thanks David! I"m a big fan of the 100-400 GM. Just excellent. I do plan to keep it whenever I add the 200-600 lens next year.

From this morning's outing.

These little guys were kind enough to pose for me.

This one too. Can’t quite put my finger on what it is. Combo of the nice bokeh background with the fall tones maybe

How do we all store our gear at home guys?

I'm getting a bit fed up of everything just being in different camera bags. I'd like to just open something/drawers/cabinet & see where everything is without spending 15 minutes searching places!!

Anyone the same? Or is it just me?

I had the same issue and bought an industrial style drawer unit, I then put foam in the drawers and done cut out for the lenses and bodies (bit like a peli case inside). However, over time I’ve kind of reverted back to everything just being in bags. Got all my landscape gear in one and got my a9ii/35/85 in my walkabout bag. More laziness than anything else, the drawers worked well when I was using them properly. All that’s in the drawers now is all the camera related bits and bobs - flashes, filters, cleaning cloths, l brackets etc etc

Edit - this is the one I have here - https://www.modernhome.co.uk/aviator-chest-of-drawers (external link)

Didn’t pay anywhere near that price though! Problem is it doesn’t really go with anything in my house :-P so when I move house shortly it will be going in my loft office

Take a look at the Ruggard Electronic Dry Cabinet

or

Hard plastic cases example Pelican, but you can get off brands that are just as good for less $$$

or

Just find a dresser in second hand store, I've seen many keep there gear in one of those.

or

A closet and build shelfs

Thank you Eddie! I know what you mean about bird photography. The images can look a bit stale and boring at times unless you capture some peak action.

For me, it’s more about the experience in the field. It’s quite exhilarating yet relaxing to see a bird in your EVF and observe their actions. For example, there were a pair of ducks in a stream fishing for food. I was maybe 20 yards from them concealed behind some reeds. I loved watching them fish. As one of them got closer to the other’s fishing hole, duck #1 would lunge at the other to push him away. This would repeat several times. Quite funny to watch.
