Thank you, the place does have a unique vibe and I was trying to capture a bit of it!

I do shoot in color and then convert. I find that adjusting brightness and contrast is almost always necessary in the process. Try pushing up the brightness just a bit, and then up the contrast slightly. That usually works pretty well to get the same look you had in the color image.

What software do you use?

Years ago, I had a middle school camera club. And so that all the kids could work on their projects at home, I found all sorts of photo freeware. And then I made sure I was proficient with it.

Most processing, they used GIMP from Mozilla. I got to like it, and that's pretty much all I use now. Not quite as newbie friendly as Photoshop, but it works great.
