After our 'enry had had the place part knocked down during the general dissolution of the monasteries in the 1500s they tried to rebuild a spire on the remander but that fell off causing even more damage. It was thought thqt the combination of a lightening strike and the fact that it was too heavy for the damaged structure under it was the cause. It could have been that Big G didn't like it :rolleyes:

On my first visit to this church - as in common with many others I was unable to enter due to the pandemic.
I was in the area a few weeks back and it was open. I unfortunately did not have a tripod or off camera flash for these internal shots.
