Return it like immediately.

Like other have said...DONT open it....return it for a refund, then buy another....:-D

If it's working fine, why do that. The replacement might be more damaged from it's tosses where this one seems to have survived the trip.

I saw that story as well and if you look at the pictures, a lot of the packages look like they have been opened. I know the media was spinning the story as the drivers were tossing the packages but I suspect that it was the work of porch pirates instead. Think about it, A driver clearly knows every package is traced to its final destination. Why on earth would they toss it?

That is why I buy lenses and Camera bodies at my local Mom and Pop camera shops here in the Philadelphia area. Sure they could have been “dropped” on their way to the local stores, but we have the opportunity open and check before completing the transaction. After that, the “Drops” are on me.
I do feel your pain.

That would be ideal but alas, there are very few if any left. In addition, the few big box stores that do carry equipment tend to have the cheaper hardware and charge a lot more than what I can get online. I fear that the mom and pop option just isn't a option in most locations.

It probably wasn't the last time it was treated that way.

I believe it was indeed the last time it was treated that way ..... but I doubt very much that it was the first, or only, time that it was thrown to land on a hard surface.

Kayl has already opened the package and taken some test shots with the lens.

Good catch, Charles!

I never ceases to amaze me how often people post a comment or suggestion here without having carefully read the post that they are responding to.

UPS triggered me into buying a doorbell cam a few years ago when they literally tossed a package, ultimate frisbee style, right through my bay window. It was a bubble mailer with 5 lugnut wheel-locks. Launched from no less than 60ft away with one foot still on the back of the truck. The guy stared in shock for about 5seconds and then just got back into the truck. Luckily a neighbor caught it on a security cam. UPS covered the $1200 repair, surprisingly with minimal resistance.

I have since made a claim with FedEx because one of their drivers backed up my driveway, ran over my landscape lighting, rammed my garage door, and then side swiped the mailbox during the escape....$1900 bill covered.

Some of these guys are absolute savages.

They are savages!

In 2011, a FedEx driver didn't even see my car right in freaking front of him, and ran over it, head-on. . He drove right up onto the hood of my car, as if the front of my car was a ramp! . When you're sitting in the driver's seat, and the front bumper of a FedEx truck is 2 feet in front of your face, you know that something has gone terribly wrong vmad

Fortunately, it was a very low speed crash, so I wasn't hurt at all. . How in the world did the driver not see me when he was only going a few miles and hour, and I was only going a few miles an hour? . What a doofus!

The police officer who came to the scene yelled and yelled, repeatedly and loudly, at the FedEx driver, and wouldn't let him get a word in edgewise. . Evidently, that nitwit driver had caused several accidents in this jurisdiction, and the cops were sick of dealing with the aftermath caused by his carelessness.

With 333,000 miles on the odometer, and unrepaired damage from a previous accident, the car was practically worthless, with a book value of around $600. . But FedEx took good care of me, and paid me $4800 for the car. . FedEx self-insures, so there was no need to deal with a 3rd party for settlement / compensation, and I got the check for $4,800 within two days. . Surprisingly, the car was still drivable, so I was able to drive it around until I bought a replacement a couple of weeks later.

The fact that these drivers are the ones who are entrusted with getting our packages to us in a professional, timely, and safe fashion ..... well, no wonder our stuff gets all beat up in transit, if it ever even arrives at all.

I did not even read the other reply. B&H is the best. They are the best. Just RETURN IT TO B&H and they will deal with FedEx. Don't even open the box.

The fact he had been terrorizing the town with his reckless driving is actually hysterical LOL
One of my family members works for FedEx and apparently, they have a zero-tolerance policy now (or at least in his branch). One accident, whether it's your fault or not, and you're either fired or demoted from driving. They probably use your guy as a case study for the driver-orientation/training courses.

A trip to B&H is on my bucket list.

YOU MADE MY DAY.

I took my family to NYC a couple years ago before the end of the world happened, for a show, museum, dinner etc. I wanted to go to B&H but it was too far, we were staying near Time Square, and that side trip would have eaten up too much family time. I actually was talking to a sales guy there about that very "bucket list" item.
