4 sunsets on Lake Lanier, footage that was captured, edited, and then left alone. It is kinda fun putting them together and using them for something. They are not perfect. So many factors, and I really need to spend the off season coming up learning LR Timelapse. One for the gradient editing, but also to be able to export 8K.

Nice! That 600 is a monster of a lens. It is almost comical how it looks on the body. For me it would be the 400, just because of race car stuff, 400 f/2.8 is money. For Petit next year, I will probably rent one, I waited too long this year to make it happen.

400 f2.8 with the 1.4 tc is a winning combo.

Rained all day yesterday which kept me inside. The benefit of taking shots like this is you get to consume the props when done

I’m looking forward to viewing this a little later.

Has everyone seen the Netflix series Ozark? It is soooooooo good and the final season is getting released next month. Anyway, the show is filmed at Lake Lanier (and at Allatoona Lake). Anyone who liked Breaking Bad, but hasn’t seen Ozark needs to watch.

It won't take long...it is about 2 minutes long! Crazy that it takes a couple hours of capture, a couple more hours of editing, an hour or so more to compile, and hour to find the right soundtrack...all for 2 minutes...makes me wonder why I mess with it sometimes!

I don't have Netflix, sounds like a cool show that I had no idea existed. I wonder where they filmed on Lanier.

The story is supposed to take place at Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri, but all the filming were done in places around the Atlanta metro area.

Here is a promotional piece from the state of Georgia about the filming locations. Anyway, it is an awesome thriller series that anyone who has Netflix should check out. :)

It's funny, whenever I watch the show (must-see TV!) the landscape reminds me of the two days I spent interviewing a Hall of Fame (in two states, Alabama and Florida) HS football coach in the finger lakes region near Auburn, AL. Well done by the Ozark crew!

Just returned from an eagle trip....second one in a month. I've over eagles for a while now :)
B*H e-mail says my big lens should be here Wednesday. This shot from yesterday morning was at
280mm (though I did have the 1.4TC on the 200600)....so the big boy would not have done me any good haha!

One thing I learned getting shockingly close to this raptor is that even a big slow bird like an eagle is relatively fast
the closer they are.

On the flip side, if they had been attached to something stronger, it might have broken the mount of the lens and the body. Maybe the design is to breakaway and preserve the body mount.

Canon can get it right, broken lens mounts are economical to repair.
This design destroys the main board which is very expensive.
The Sony body mount is cheap and easy to replace.

Get ride of that foot. RRS, Kirk, etc. make replacements that are arca-swiss and much more grippable.

I want the length, particularly longer at the back. It's plenty grippy now with the emery, I just should have done it earlier.

Tawny frogmouth families.
They are nocturnal birds, though not Owls. Considered to be related to Nightjars.

Congrats on the new lens Robert! I've often contemplated the 600 as well but I really like the flexibility of the 200-600. I think if I was shooting raptors or waterfowl exclusively then the 600 would be perfect but not so sure when shooting songbirds for example when sometimes 600 is just too tight but even there I guess it's pretty situational.

On another note I was out this weekend for a hike in a local park here in Toronto and I decided to not take my camera with me on this particular day, turns out I came face to face with a Snowy Owl on my walk and I've been kicking myself for not having my camera with me:cry: First time I've seen one of these guys in such close proximity.

A Snowy up close! Well at least you got to admire him/her. Such beautiful creatures.
Well the 600 is here. Funny driving to town to pick it up in my 1997 Nissan Hardbody, thinking the lens is worth 26 times the truck I'm hauling it home in haha!

Travis I don't think you can go wrong with either for what I shoot, and I know the 200600 will see the vast majority of shoots. But in your case
I can see the 400.

Yep the 1.4, but also the 2.0 on the 400. I've not seen any of the great photographers who shoot the 600
use the 2.0. Atmospherics?
