Every week we select a new theme, and then go out and shoot that theme. This week the theme is Plant Life. As always be as imaginative/creative as you like when interpreting the theme, creativity is what we're looking for.

Show us some Plant Life

Here are the rules:
1. Shots need to be taken between Tuesday, after the new theme is posted and the following Monday by sunset (Whenever that is for you). Because this activity is supposed to encourage us to get out and shoot, please don't post old shots from your archives. Snapshots and art are equally welcome -- just get out & shoot, and then share!
2. Post your shots at any time during the week.
3. Post a maximum of two shots if you're uploading them to POTN (i.e., attaching them). You can post more than two if you're linking to shots that are not hosted by POTN (i.e. embedding them) but keep within POTN rules. Also keep within POTN rules about size. A copy of the size rules can be found here: IMAGE POSTING RULES
That's it! Have fun! As always be as imaginative/creative as you like when interpreting the theme, creativity is what we're looking for.
An index to previous weeks can be found here: POTN WORLDWIDE PHOTO WEEK INDEX

That's it!
Have fun!

That is because this is a topic that I will be able to participate in, and that will cause me to go out looking for things to shoot that I normally wouldn't bother with ..... and that is a good thing!

This young olive tree, 6 feet (1.83 m) tall, planted next to a sidewalk, was bearing exactly 4 olives. I photographed half of its crop. There's lots of evidence of insect life here, too.

That's quite a crop factor you're working with

Tim, I like your mushroom pic, but there's news about the subjects. Fungi (external link)are no longer classified as plants. They actually have more in common with animals, saith Wikipedia.

There are lots of true plants growing around Tim's mushrooms, so his image certainly fits well into this week's theme.

I know, but he did introduce the image as a picture of mushrooms. I thought it was noteworthy that mushrooms are physically more like animals than like plants. It surprised me.

Well, I'll see your Wikipedia and raise you a Google which says: "A plant is a living thing that grows in the earth..." :p

These little flowers don't normally come up until January. I suspect the big rain storm we had, followed by two weeks of warmer than normal weather, confused them and they came up early.

Calling your bluff on that Google. Some plants grow in air, some in water.

Yes there is a lot more to say about Fungi these days, but it's still acceptable as plant life.
They are also the telecommunications system and the fuel transfer system for trees.
So much we don't know, that we think we know

In high-school biology classes, I learned about protoplasm, the special kind of matter that all living things were made of. Later it turned out that living things are made of regular stuff. It kind of took life down a peg. I bet the textbooks don't mention protoplasm anymore.
