If so, how does it work with Lightroom/Photoshop? I've got a Macbook Pro from 2019, it's not buttery smooth but it's palatable. Is it worth the upgrade?

I just switched from a 27" iMac i7 to a maxed out 14" MacBook Pro M1 Max and the LG 27" 5K monitor. 4K video editing, Lightroom, etc... In everything I do the MacBook is significantly better.

I had a 2018 Mac Pro and got he M1 a few months back, the difference is amazing, photoshop, lightroom is much better but it really shines in the video editing department . Battery life is also night and day difference

Thanks all for the suggestions, been pondering on this one for a while. I'm thinking of maxxing it out myself, but it's a flipping big cost!

I have always kept both a desktop 27" iMac and a lower end Mac laptop. This time around I wanted 1 setup to travel with and have at home for video/photo work. All I can say is this new MacBook Pro is all the power I need with extra to spare. Paired with the LG 27" monitor its the best 27" iMac available with the portability of a MacBook.

I almost bought one but decided rather than to buy another Apple Product, I would wait for the Carl Marx Model One Laptop.

Really? Or did you mean a 2018 Macbook Pro?

Good choice since they have announced the Marx eddition will have chips from a shared manufacture of the M1 chips.

Could you link me the model of the LG Monitor? I'm looking for a big colour accurate monitor for when I do editing - laptop screen alone isn't cutting it anymore either.

Oh god that is a beautiful monitor. Shame that it's $1.2K.

I take it, that it's very colour accurate right?

Upgraded from a 2020 MBP to the M1 max, 32 core GPU, 32GB RAM and 2TB. Couldn't be happier (except for the cost) and to give an example on performance, TOPAZ would take 2-3 min/photo and now ............... 15 sec.

A few days ago, TOPAZ offers an updated version to work with the M1 chip.
The overall reason I talked myself into getting the M1 max is for heavier video editing. Now I just need to get better at using Final Cut Pro.

It is quite a beef unit, the new M1 Max. I'm dabbing in video editing myself - so I've been considering it.

I want to try out final cut pro, is it comparable to Adobe?

I had been using Adobe Elements and after some not-so-certain research I decided to go with FCP.
