I was working a scene 180 degrees behind me with a 70-300mm lens when I turned around and saw this. My first instinct was, I'd need something wider than I had with me. I squeezed off a few frames at 70mm and went back to what I was doing.
When I got home I thought, this isn't too bad. The scene itself is crazy wide. There's 30 more miles of this stuff behind that hill. The perspective at 70mm was just right. It pulled the hills in closer, tightened things up without losing the wideness of the scene. With a wider lens, I would have lost that and I don't think I would have looked at this picture a second time.
