Playing with ambient light. I used spot metering tied to the focal point and used a radial filter and adjustment brush in ACR to 'normalize' exposure on my face. In PS, I selected my shirt then applied a levels adjustment layer to darken it a bit more.

I used my Sigma 35 f1.4 Art lens at f2 for this shot.

We had lost our friend Gene. He had passed away on October 18th, 2021 and was laid to rest on November 18th, 2021.

Sad and unfortunate. He will be missed and remembered. I also noticed that the day he joined POTN was also on October 18th.

I did try to contact a few friends of his via Facebook messenger recently but didn't get anywhere.

This is really sad and what’s always worrisome when someone stops posting. Gene was always a gentleman and willing to help. He will be greatly missed .

That's really sad, indeed. I've searched for him everywhere, PMed a few times to no avail, so I feared that scenario. Even when i searched through obituaries recently, his name didn't show up.

This is very sad news indeed, he was really nice to everyone. I think it's the first time that I've been moved about the passing away of someone I only 'knew' through a forum, but Gene was definitely the kind of person to leave such an impression. RIP.

Terrible news to hear that. How did you find this out. I know we will all miss him and his input here.

Gene was very gifted and bought much to this forum.
A creative bloke not restrained by convention.

Just terrible news about Gene's passing. He was such a positive person here on the forum. I still have his private messages to me when he offered a friendly critique or advice. He will be missed.

I contacted Renata about making something for my wife for Christmas. A nice small wallet, in a great color.
