I don't do much "people" photography. I would like to do a bit more with my grandkids but don't want to invest a lot in a light. What would be an inexpensive constant light I could buy to sync with the R3? It would be used in close quarters so super power isn't a requirement. Thanks.

Lume cube
Litra
GoPro light
Cheap Amazon stuff

I would go either cheap Amazon or GoPro, either work fine with small lenses, big lenses will cast a shadow.

I use it all the time for fill

Yeah I didnt want to bring it up, waited till after Christmas. But we all were worried about him and it's been confirmed. Like Lee, I also looked for any sign of activity from him, not being able to find any, I checked onto the people on his fb. Most were inactive but his grand daughter was the one active and had posts on her page regarding Gene. I messaged her, introduced myself and how we were worried about Gene. I didn't ask for the details but I'm sure most of us had an idea since his late posts had mentioned that he was hospitalized. After a few msgs I asked for the date of his passing and if I could share it on here. She gave permission and was happy to know that we cared.

Ever since the beginning, this forum has always treated me with abundance of comfort, learning, and simply relaxing. Gene was a big part of this forum and he will be sorely missed. Like Many of you, I considered Gene my friend and am very sad to hear about his passing. May you rest peacefully in heaven.

My advice would be to master natural light first. And even when you wanna add artificial light, still shoot like natural light. use only the artificial light as fill.

This is my fourth image in my Flow State series. Instead of photographing the entire waterfall, I chose to focus on this section where the side light was hitting the rock and water.

FE 24-105

This image looks like you staged it in a studio. So …. Perfect!

First edit from the trip this week. Found a new spot in the park, happens every time I go. It felt like being a rookie again, trying to learn the new camera, things are in different places, menus are all different, so it was good to get to spend a few days focusing on photography. I am really happy with this thing...

This is what I would normally do. I have large windows and depending on the time of day can get a lot of natural light. Thanks.

Lovely image, Travis.

Thanks!

I decided that this year I would do a video version of my usual Top 10 Images from the year. Since almost all of them had video and or timelapse to go with them. I didn't get out as much as I wanted to, but made the most of each opportunity I guess.

great images and nicely done on the presentation video. If I have nice houses to shoot and vacant, I will steal that idea for 2022.

At 3am struggling with jet lag unable to sleep picked up the ipad, Travis, for 7 and half minutes I completely forgot where I was, enjoyed every image almost like being there. Beautifully done.

feel free! I was just trying to have something to put a little talk over before showing the images, getting mileage out of all that footage!
