I hope everyone celebrates the incoming new year in an enjoyable manner.

On a recent camping trip we tried out new electric bikes and they are great. The pedal assist helps us old folks while still letting us exercise. I carried the a7R3 with the 100-400 slung over my shoulder since I had no place to carry it yet. Heavy but wasn't going to try to carry the 200-600. I'm currently working on a basket made to carry the big lens to remedy this situation. Would like a way to put a short mount up front but that is down the road. I will update the basket fab when I'm done. A couple of shots below of the eagle I got fairly close to. It knew I was lurking but with no noise, didn't appear alarmed. Also a shot of the bikes.

With Omicron rampant in Sydney opted to usher in 2022 before the rest of the world at home watching the fireworks on telly, with my now favourite Gin. Picked up this bottle at the duty free on arrival. It’s not like any other Gin I’ve tasted. Cant quite explain but its got a slight sweet fruity taste.

I use the Peak Design capture camera clip V3 with my backpack and for walking with the 200-600 lens its great, just took a few attempts to figure out the ideal position to place the clip. Might not quite be ok for cycling but with a smaller lens it might work. If I’m taking just the camera with the long lens only, I use the think tank digital holster 150 with the pro speed belt. I find these are the best carrying methods works for me. I’ve used the digital holster system once on my bicycle and was happy with it. I can see that being the option for me when I get back home permanently. In Dubai I only cycle for exercise and there are no photo ops worth taking a camera along for.

The normal Hendricks goes well with a slice of cucumber in it, not sure if the “Amazonia” one is the same, I’ve never even seen that before. I’ll need to source that somewhere

My wife and I haven't ventured out in many years and I can't remember the last time we saw midnight.

I have a crate in the works using polyethylene foam as a bed. I'm taking it slow to get it right. Next camping out with the bikes not for a couple of weeks so it should be finished. My Thinktank bag is too much for the back rack on the bike. I did consider it but much too wide and I fear would throw the balance of the bike off.

We had lost our friend Gene. He had passed away on October 18th, 2021 and was laid to rest on November 18th, 2021.

Sad and unfortunate. He will be missed and remembered. I also noticed that the day he joined POTN was also on October 18th.

Sigh lost so many this last year. Gene was good people

On another note, I received the Godox/Litemons lights today, 2 of them. I'll let y'all know how they work out for me.

Cool. I am thinking about getting one just for those times where I park the Jeep for the camp and then still want to run around... Places like Grand Canyon could set camp and then use the bike better to go from spot to spot .... and easier parking!!!

Yes it does and so does this. I went a step further getting some smaller almost baby cucumber and put it all in sliced, its super to munch on the slices every refill!

I missed seeing the post on his passing. RIP Gene he is surely missed. Only knew him on this forum like everyone else here, but he touched me with his simplicity and kindness.

Belated Christmas and Happy New year!

Got back from the Rhine Christmas Cruise on Wednesday. Trying to get through the tourist pics I got..... way to many way to touristy.

Hoping to reset this year. After loosing my friend Frank (former Official National Park Photographer) and the 79 Year Ansel Adams project I really have lost my way. He told me before he died that he was leaving his stuff to me and wanted me to keep it going however his Wife has other plans and I have to let her go through her process. I will be doing some Frank in the National Park trips in honor of him this year will keep you all posted maybe get some meet ups.

I have an Archaeologist that I work with and he wants to create a book of Petroglyphs and Sites along the Gila Bend area of Arizona which is rich in indigenous history and we are trying to make it a National Monument.

Hoping to find motivation this year. You all certainly give me lots to be motivated about and after loosing so many friends this year I appreciate all of you weather you know it or not!

Anyway heres a few from the trip.
