I love the cold because I think snow and ice and frost are among the most beautiful things in the world ... and the colder it is, the longer those things last.

So, all happy about the current cold snap that swept in a couple days ago, I went for a drive today to photograph whatever winterscapes struck my eye. . These snow-covered trees did it for me. . And if the -10F temps continue, we'll have these gorgeous conditions for a while yet.

I keep coming back to this image Tom. I love these snow shots...as long as I'm cozy and warm inside. :-D

Well thanks, Tim!

I've been getting lots and lots of snow shots these past few days, as the temps are remaining at or below 0°F, so the snow and frost persists in clinging to the trees. . Here's one that I took yesterday evening, during the last few minutes of 2021 light. . It's a small lonely homestead in the high country north of my town, and shows the alpenglow color in the sky that we sometimes get in the winter just after sunset.

What an amazing pic, Tim. It looks like a photograph taken by a drone of a landscape. Pretty cool.

And Tom, your icy photographs are just plain gorgeous.

Thank you, Levina. Now that you've pointed that out, I can see the drone perspective.

Happy new year everyone. Tom, love the snowscapes (from within a warm place with a cup of hot chocolate). Might see a couple of those in the next few months. But for today i have something on the other end of the spectrum.

My last photo of 2021 (or possibly first of 2022, depending on the accuracy of camera time): Miss Molly attempting to mooch a piece of New Year's Eve spanakopita. Not many photos this week. Mostly rain and the bit of cheerful snow we had this season is long gone.
Oh, and Happy 2022!

She looks very well behaved for a moocher.

Only because it is a still image. Next frame was over the bookcases. :-D
