So nice. I hope I get to see one of these one day. Two or three years ago there was one that was in N. Texas for a while. I probably should have made the trip.

Thanks Bill, they are a treat to see. This happens to be a good year for them around here. I have seen 5 different Snowys so far. Normally I see only one for the most part.

I'm guessing it's spillage from the intestines or other organs from its previous meal.

That was what I assumed it was as well initially but another member on the Sony thread said he thinks it maybe caused by feeding on rodents that have been poisoned with Rodent killer, I hope that is not the case. This particular individual is overwintering in a large Urban Nature reserve close to the city, I can't imagine them ever using Rodent poison.
