Is it a double crested cormorant? I don't see the orange around the mouth, nor the blue chin on a Brandt's cormorant.

Nice shot Jack. It's a Brandt's. The blue throat skin (the gulag pouch) doesn't always show. The lores and skin around the face will always be orange on a Double-crested, and the bill isn't as dark.

I spotted this baldie and it landed in a tree behind my house. I parked underneath and took this.

Braved the frigid winter air (17F/-8C with a windchill of 9F/-13C) to try for some wildlife photography after not having done any over the last month or so. There was quite a bit of activity at Killens Pond State Park with White-throated Sparrows foraging for food among the grass and snow, White-breasted Nuthatches scurrying up the trees, and a couple of Northern Cardinals taking advantage of a bird feeder filled up by park staff. However, the stars of the morning where the Tufted Titmice that were all over the trees and, like the Cardinals, taking advantage of the bird feeder.

I was driving down Route 1 today south of Rockland Maine when I spotted this eagle on the side of the road in a field feeding on its kill. Nature is not always pretty.
