Actually, it is a whole ship

Groton, Connecticut. I was visiting a customer in the area. They build submarines across the river. I think there is one in the background just above the bowsprit

This ship of the US coast gard visit harbours all over the world. It was also in Sail Scheveningen 3 years ago. A nice ship.

Today Queen Margarethe II of Denmark is marking the 50th anniversary of her father's death and her accession to the throne ... this is the royal yacht Dannebrog (which is the name of the Danish flag )

Congratulations!

( The photos are from early 2014 but the yacht hasn't changed much since then - happily! )

That's a lovely vessel Nic.

We used to have one too :-( The Royal Yacht Britannia.

At least you still have the Floating Tea Palace Britannia in Leith ( or at least until Scotland rejoins Europe ... ) . We had a great tour of the yacht and then tea ( not Earl Grey this time ) on the top deck ... well worth the visit !

Nice pics Nic - But Scotland re-joining the EU - come off it - If we hadn't joined in the first place we wouldn't have had the problem we have now. Sensible renegotiation would have been better.

Ok Nic - another nice one. Your pic is a bit confusing with the ship behind it.:-)
At the moment (15 Jan 2022) it is in Tilbury Dock and masquerading under the name Atlantic Discovery.:-)
She is an offshore supply ship built in 1991. Carrying capacity 3050 tons. Draught 4.4m. Length 81.9m. Width 18m.

Thanks Ray. Yes, two too similar hull colours!

It was cloudy when we flew out, but a nice view of Leith harbour …

They were supposed to be building a new distillery down by the Britannia , don’t know how far that project has got.

Ray

I just thought it was a boat with 2 fronts? Or if you prefer, 2 sharp ends?

I like the way that ther sweep all the holes in the sides forwards. A bit like 'go-faster' stripes

Yes I did spot the statue but I thought it was just one of our Premier politicians tied to a post waiting for the tide to rise, just like the old witch hunt trials:-)
The witch hunt never went away.:-):-)

Note: Witch, which and wich are different words, try to remember witch one to use.:-)

And don’t forget your penance - The Radnor Arms:-)
