Every week we select a new theme, and then go out and shoot that theme. This week the theme is Still Life. As always be as imaginative/creative as you like when interpreting the theme, creativity is what we're looking for.

Let's find or create some Still Life images

Here are the rules:
1. Shots need to be taken between Tuesday, after the new theme is posted and the following Monday by sunset (Whenever that is for you). Because this activity is supposed to encourage us to get out and shoot, please don't post old shots from your archives. Snapshots and art are equally welcome -- just get out & shoot, and then share!
2. Post your shots at any time during the week.
3. Post a maximum of two shots if you're uploading them to POTN (i.e., attaching them). You can post more than two if you're linking to shots that are not hosted by POTN (i.e. embedding them) but keep within POTN rules. Also keep within POTN rules about size. A copy of the size rules can be found here: IMAGE POSTING RULES
That's it! Have fun! As always be as imaginative/creative as you like when interpreting the theme, creativity is what we're looking for.
An index to previous weeks can be found here: POTN WORLDWIDE PHOTO WEEK INDEX

That's it!
Have fun!

Still Life with Peppercorns, which are - so Wikipedia informs - the fruits of Piperaceae.

I've been exploring some of the Depth Compositing (= focus stacking) capabilities of my 90D for macro stuff this week. This image of a peppercorn "medley" (sitting on a mirror) was stacked from 16 frames. Thankfully, the corns remained perfectly Still during the process.

That's an impressive result. I'm not sure what I'm looking at in parts of the image: reality or reflection. The lower white p'corn appears translucent or as if two mirrors were somehow involved.

PRONOUN ADVISORY: OhLook is a she. | A FEW CORRECT SPELLINGS: lens, aperture, amateur, hobbyist, per se, raccoon, whoa | Comments welcome

Seen on a retaining wall. This Mario Lanza 78 is stilled. It'll never spin again.

Thanks. The multiple images in the mirror aren't artifact of the stacking (as I thought they might be at first look), but they are there in the first, single frame. Must be extra reflections / refractions between the glass surface and the underlying reflective surface, and perhaps some bouncing between them since I see at least four "ghosts" under the actual. The camera angle was <45 deg to the mirror surface. I think they add spirit though.

Here was the set-up ... which is also a kinda still life.
